WORSHIP DURING THE SEASON OF EASTER Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, the “queen of feasts,” of the Church year. Easter celebrates an event so great that it cannot be limited to one day. Thus, Easter consists of fifty days--a “week of weeks.” Beginning with the Vigil of Easter and continuing throughout the Easter season, the candelabras are lit; and the lighted Paschal Candle is appropriately placed near the Gospel side of the altar.
